Raleigh, N.C. — An 80-year-old woman escaped a house fire after a tree crashed into her home early Wednesday morning.
Raleigh firefighters responded to the home on Glenwood Avenue before 5 a.m.
A woman told WRAL News her 80-year-old mother was sleeping inside when a tree fell into the kitchen in the back of a home, igniting a fire. The woman was able to get out of the house and went to a neighbor’s home for help.
The homeowner was not injured. Her daughter said she was very surprised to learn of the fire and glad her mother is okay.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
