Morrisville, N.C. — Friday and Monday will be the busiest days at Raleigh-Durham International Airport over Memorial Day weekend.
On Friday morning, most of the parking lots at RDU were already 70% full.
While air travel continues to boom despite soaring ticket prices, there is a pilot shortage that could force airlines to ground flights.
At 9 a.m., a handful of flights were already delayed or canceled at RDU.
Travelers are encouraged to arrive at the airport at least two hours early for domestic flights. They should also check their flight status.
At 10 a.m., RDU will release its traffic projections for the holiday weekend, including how many people are expected to pass through the gates.
