Chilly Sunday morning to precede warmer week ahead

10 April 2022

— After a chilly Sunday morning, we’re looking at a considerable warm up this week as we get into the middle of April.

Patchy frost is possible across the northern and western portions of our area for Sunday morning. Temperatures were in the low 40s and upper 30s around 6 a.m. You’ll definitely want a coat if you’re heading out early.

Sunday afternoon will be warmer than Saturday. We could see wind speeds of 20 to 25 miles per hour. Sunday features more sunshine with highs in the mid-to-upper 60s. It’s a great day to get out to the WRAL Azalea Gardens.

A high-pressure system is bringing warmer conditions and with that comes temperatures in the 70s and 80s.

Sunday night should see clear skies with lows in the lower to mid 40s.

Big Warm Up April 10-14, 2022

The first half of the new work week is already looking warmer than the weekend, with highs in the upper 70s and low 80s.

“Once we head into Tuesday, we’re looking at highs in the 80s,” said WRAL meteorologist Peta Sheerwood. “So get ready for it.”

Tuesday, we’re looking at a high of 82 in Raleigh. Wednesday calls for a high of 83.

The Durham Bulls’ season opener is set for Tuesday night at the DBAP.

One thing to be mindful of with all the dry weather is the pollen count. Pollen is very high on trees as of Sunday. Thursday is our next best chance for rain.
