Goldsboro, Raleigh churches to giveaway free gas cards

16 April 2022

— Two churches in the Triangle are giving away free gas cards to serve their communities this Easter.

Deeper Life Ministries in Goldsboro will pass out 500 free gas cards on Saturday at 10 a.m. at three different gas stations:

  • The Circle K on North Berkley Boulevard in Goldsboro
  • The Speedway on East Ash Street in Goldsboro
  • The Speedway on US-117 in Dudley

Baptist Grove Church in Raleigh will also be handing out $25 gas cards to 500 people from 10 a.m. to noon at:

In a statement, Baptist Grove Church Pastor Bankole Akinbinu said that this giveaway is about much more than gas.

“This is about parents being able to drop their children off to school so they can get an education and not fall behind,” he said. “This is about men and women being able to get to work so they can continue to provide for their households. This is about relieving our seniors from having to make decisions between grocery money and gas money to get their prescriptions.”

Pat Ford, an elder at Deeper Life Ministries, told WRAL News that the church has been giving away free gas cards for the past year or so.

“The increase in gas prices is also a motivation for the church to reach outside the church walls for a more wholistic ministry to persons,” Ford said. “Meeting them where they are at the point of their needs.”

“Deeper Life Ministries wants to rise up to save people some money just as Christ rose to save our lives or eternal destination,” Ford added.

Akinbinu said that they chose to give out 500 gas cards because of the Bible verse 1 Corinthians 15:6.

“We will also offer prayer to individuals who desire prayer, while their tank is being filled,” he said. “We hope people will leave with fuller tanks and full in spirit.”
