More than a dozen flights canceled, delayed at RDU Friday morning

— The security line was backed up at Raleigh-Durham International Airport in Terminal 2 Friday morning amid numerous delays and cancellations reported at the airport.

As of 8 a.m., there were 15 flight cancellations and nine delays. Most stem from Endeavor Air, which is operated by Delta Airlines.

Crowds packed the terminal, and WRAL’s Lora Lavigne reported the TSA line was double looped, wrapping around part of the building.

The delays and long TSA lines could be related to weekend travel, because a spokesperson from the airport told WRAL News there were no problems to report.

On Thursday morning, a Delta plane landed safely at RDU after experiencing mechanical issues.

There were a handful of delays and cancellations at that time, but a spokesperson from the airport said the delays were due to summer travel, not the emergency landing.

Travelers are encouraged to check the status of their flight before leaving home and to arrive at the airport early.
