Collettsville, N.C. — Search teams are looking for a parent and child in western North Carolina on Monday.
A woman and son got lost hiking in Caldwell County on Sunday afternoon after exploring with their family.
In a Facebook post, Caldwell County Emergency Management reported April Tester and her son, Desmond, got separated from their family around 5 p.m. and never reunited with them.
The two were last seen in the Harper Creek Trail area near Collettsville. The mother and son were inexperienced hikers and not prepared for an overnight stay. The trail is a popular area for hiking and camping.
