That Music Festival underway at DBAP

24 June 2022

— Twenty-five bands are performing on three stages at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park this weekend, and they’re all from North Carolina

The music started Friday afternoon around 1 P.M.

The strumming. The tapping. Those voices.

That sound, that authentic sound of North Carolina music makers.

It’s that state of mind they put us in.

That fan with that Panama hat who wanted to be “that guy”, the first one on the front row of the main stage.

Chris Nelson of Clayton attends half a dozen music festivals a year.

“It was open! We started to set up back there, but why aren’t we up front,” said Clayton. “To me, they’re the best bang for your buck in money for live music.”

It’s that gathering of friends from Apex, listening to that band called Into the Fog.

It’s that feeling Marna Carlson gets on a summer afternoon when the live music plays.

“I think good music is good music, regardless of the genre. We just like to see live music,” said Carlson. “It’s all North Carolina bands, we wanted to get exposed to more local bands.”

That camaraderie distinctive of a hometown music festival.

This festival, is all that.
